"His Current Woman" by Jerzy Pilch

Short, biting, intriguing, surprising. Well worth the effort. This little story deals with the unpredictability of love, and its spiritual nature, and the maddening-ness of love. There is little to admire in Kohoutek, the main character, but in the end, there is a measure of, if not redemption, a growing realization of others' worth and needs.

And not too many stories have such foils that Kohoutek has in Dr. Oyermah. A joy to read.
